August 1 Deadline for Artist’s Resource Trust more info »

Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation has set a grant application deadline for the Artists Resource Trust (A.R.T) is August 1.  A.R.T. provides grants to mid-career New England artists in financial need.  Non-profit organizations wishing to show, commission or purchase work by mature artists living in New England may also apply.

There is a significant economic challenge to being an artist in the world today and a grant from A.R.T. provides prestigious, meaningful encouragement and motivation to mid-career artists who are struggling financially.

Applications are available online at http://www.berkshiretaconic.org/grantseekers or by calling Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation at 413.229.0370. Applications must be received at the Berkshire Taconic office by 5 p.m. on August 1.

Breakfast hikes up Greylock offered

Free guided hikes to the summit of Mount Greylock will be offered every Friday from the visitors center on Rockwell Road.

Steve Linscott will guide the hikes, which are considered moderate to strenuous. Meet at 7:30 a.m. Breakfast at Bascom Lodge (fee involved) will be offered at 9 a.m.

Project Native will host The 2nd Annual Native Knowledge Conference & Eco-Exhibit at Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington, MA on September 25, 2010.

This day-long environmental conference will feature presentations by:  award-winning author and illustrator John Himmelman, Catherine Renzi and Peter Heus.  Topics include:  Discovering Moths: Nighttime Jewels in Your Own Backyard, the History of Native Plants, and Underused Natives.  In addition, Project Native’s Founder, Raina Weber, will give a brief presentation on the History and Future of Project Native. 

Project Native is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.  Funding for The 2nd Annual Native Knowledge Conference & Eco-Exhibit has been provided by The Dr. Robert C. and Tina Sohn Foundation.
