January 20, 2009 Minutes

Members in attendance: Ananda Timpane, Nick Ring, Dan White, Larry Bronstein, Deborah Alecson, Harold Schrager

Guests: Robert Pellicotti, Joy Lyon

Minutes from previous meetings: approved as amended.

Tasks:
- FSRN script: Ananda emailed Asa and it has been updating at least as of today.
- Dan processed minutes from last several meetings and made necessary amendments.

Programmers/Programs
AM Show: Harold has been coordinating filling the schedule.  Almost all shifts have been filled with a staffing list distributed at the meeting.  Recording of AM show needs to instituted.  National news on the hour (5-8 min), local on the half hour (5-8 min), weather throughout, plenty of music otherwise.  Dan researched Wakeup Call News; posted at 5:50am, 5 days a week.  Tech committee will need to create a script for downloading and insertion into automation.
12/13/08 2pm doors unlocked: Upon investigation it became apparent that two previous programmers did not log in.  Points were awarded and programmers have been notified of violation.
12/17/08 Healers Connect/Promotion report: Programmer notified of concern.  Program needs reviewing.  To be continued.
2/14/09 preemption request: Request has been pulled.  Programming will continue as normal.
Found Sounds self report: Programmer inadvertently aired an “f-bomb”, apologized to listeners and self reported.  Motion: award programmer 2 policy violation warning points.  approved unanimously.
1/20/09 Record Variety Hour: Matt Downing out of area; Scott Clark was to be there.  Scott will be noticed of apparent violation.
1/20/09 Organically Sexy: Last two airings of the program have had different, but significant technical problems apparently due to quality of recordings aired during the program.  Julie’s day captain (Bob O’Haver) will be contacted to work with her on the problem.

Training Update
Robert and Joy: Committee requested further information for their application, which they have provided.  Received and shared with the committee tonight.  Have not been at a policy orientation training, next of which are scheduled for April.  As they continue their training they could be ready to be on air for early April and may fit into an open slot in the schedule until scheduled regularly for the June schedule.
Almost all new programmers are on track for beginning their shows in the first or second week of February.
Creighton Brown: closer, but needs to proceed immediately to complete training.
Jackie Thomas: should be cleared by the end of February 1.
Julie Brady: Has been working with Bob O’Haver who has been assisting in prerecording and airing a show, however her trainings have not been fully tracked and she has not been cleared.  Has submitted a reapplication.  Handed to Rishi to oversee completion of training.
George Fleck: Has done significant training and has gone on the air, but needs more training and to be cleared.  has submitted a reapplication.  Handed to Rishi to oversee completion of training.
Mike Doyle:  Needs more training.  Todd Lewis has agreed to train him.  Larry will contact both to ensure considerable progress towards being cleared prior to February 1.
Matt Downing/Scott Clark: Need to hand in policy quiz prior to February 1.  Larry will contact both.
Athena Fliakos: Has a cleared cohost and does not operate the board.
News from the Valley: 3 of them are cleared programmers with codes/keys.  Other 3 are very close to being cleared.
Catherine Banks Baum: Solid on tech knowledge.  Her show will be on 3rd Sat. of month, 9-10am.  Needs some more policy training.  Will be ready to go prior to 3rd Saturday of February.
Bahia Sonora cohost:
Orientation for Studio 2: Tabled until next meeting.
Transitions Seminar: Tabled until next meeting.

Handbook
Host agreement: Larry reviewed the agreement for alignment with the handbook and has recommended several revisions: 1) responsibility for all policies in the handbook and future additions/revisions; 2) adding that people post to the listserv in addition to notifying their day captain.  motion: amend the host agreement to incorporate larry’s first suggestion. approved unanimously.
Quiz: Needs to be reviewed/revised to be in accordance with updated handbook and ready to go for the April policy trainings.  Committee members to begin reviewing quiz in relation to handbook and enter it on the agenda of the next meeting.

Pacifica Audioport Access System for Programmers and Training

Fund Drive
Fund Drive appears to be currently planned for March.  Outreach has been made to Fundraising Committee to ensure that they make the scheduling request of the Programming Committee.

Schedule
Bahia Sonora is moving biweekly.  In an interest in not reducing the volume of Spanish language programming, we are expressing a desire to return Bahia Sonora to weekly status for next term with a cohost for Orlando.
Several programs had programmers whose hours were unclear.  Programmers for the following shows have completed their hours in the appropriate time: Story-okee, Record Variety Hour (Matt is good; Scott, unknown), Gospel Train, Found Sounds, Truth Search.
Programs on the current schedule for which there were not complete reapplications are Story Time, Hard Bop Deluxe, Dr. Malick.
Children’s Story Hour: Subject to a lack of documented volunteer hours, CSH application is incomplete and the program is not included in the upcoming schedule.  If, upon review, volunteer hours for Gizelle have been confirmed, the program will be re-added to the schedule.

New programmers to be contacted by Rishi regarding schedule location.Programmers who requested a change will be contacted by Ananda regarding that change.  Programmers who otherwise have had a schedule change will be notified by their day captains.
