Fundraising Committee - May 8, 2007
Attendees: Andy Potter, Bob Balogh, Graham Dean, Tori Pajeski, Karen Skelton, Chris Meyer, Ben Shalles
1. Raffle & Lottery Policy -
A discussion of what our policy should be resulted in a motion to allow raffles as a fundraising tool, which was passed 5-1. Aspects of the policy that were agreed upon were:
* No promotion on the web site
* On-air promotion is the provenance of the Programming Committee, for now it won’t be allowed
* Tickets to be sold at WBCR events and tables
* Any raffle must meet all legal and regulatory requirements
* Raffles must be proposed to the FR committee
* We want professionally printed tickets
* Drawings will be held with at least 3 members of the FR committee present
* Raffles will have someone managing them
TASK:
In the case of the proposed raffle for FalconRidge tickets, Graham will manage the process, getting tickets printed and obtaining a permit. We will offer 200 tickets.
2. Discussed status of thank you cards for Spring Fund Drive.
TASK:
Karen will draft text for a thank you card to be sent to fund drive contributors.
3. Press Releases
* Press releases will be developed on the wiki, and we have a list of press contacts on the wiki that will be updated. We should be able to to have anyone in the group handle getting a press release out.
* AP has drafted a release for the move of DN back to 5:30, it’s on the wiki. The group will review and comment.
* We need a release for Destination Radio and one for the Farmer’s Market tabling.
TASKS:
Tori to begin drafting Destination Radio press release
Andy to begin drafting Farmers Market release
Andy to release DN! announcement
4. Events
* Farmer’s Market is moving along. AP and Ben are doing the tech stuff. We need a table, Ben has one he can loan us.
* Tori will send a mail to the prog list to get volunteers for the Co-op event.
* Acoustic Brunches were discussed, attendance has picked up, there is one more show this year then the series takes the summer off but Graham and Barbara are already planning for Fall.
* The Noah health fair went well, with good interest at our table.
Tasks:
Tori to send message to on-air list for volunteers to help out with Coop Solstice event.
Andy to investigate live broadcast from Coop event.
5. Merchandise
AP had quotes for sweatshop free organic materials to get merchandise to sell. He’ll post numbers on the wiki, the group needs to agree a proposal to go to the board on May 16.
6. Banner
Graham will investigate the purchase of a banner for events.
Task:
Graham gets a quote for banner purchase.
7. Triplex
Karen will work up a new Triplex slide.
