Programs & PSAsRecent exchanges on programmer’s discussion list raised a question about website’s home page center column which currently features organizational news, fundraising events, and special upcoming programs, etc.
Should the location give high priority to program highlighting?
There is currently a chronologically listed PSA page moderated by Andy Potter; all posts are required to include a drop (stop)-date.
The home page of the website acts as the ‘frontpage’ similar to a newspaper, etc.organizational items, news, and special fundraising events should be a priority. But a dedicated eye-catching page highlighted with link from homepage could be accessible for all programmers to post news and information about their programs blogstyle.
This could be set up with 2or3 columns to include the current list of program titles, host, a line or two of description and contact info.
Ability to include photo, font or color not possible.
All posts would need a drop-date.
Tech aspects: the current front page center column operates with a limited space. When a new posting is entered by Christy, and certain enabled other, it automatically deltes the earliest posting. Otherwise CC has to manyually delete
Christy has offered to attend a future Prog.Com.meeting in December to answer questions and discuss some updating and revising for the site and ideas from the committee.
Trainer’s Training - The proposed meeting for October 30th at the WBCR station did not have enough lead notice time; a date is tentatively proposed for November 21st with Ben and Scott. Prospective trainers can choose either 5:30-7:30 or 10:00pm. The purpose is to ensure all trainers are on the same page in training programmers, and benefit from B&S’s experience of the last year in what works, recurring weak spots for programmers, etc. Ben will email a list of potential trainers with notice of the meeting: A.Condon, T.Knight, T.Lewis, C.Meyer, M.Murphy, A.Potter, F.Tolopko. N.Ring
Pizza plus provided.
Day Captain - Discussion postponed to next regular meeting November 28th when Andy P.can be presesnt.
Programmers’Listserve - Should periodic bursts of discussion of not-necessarily-essential programmer information be discouraged.?
Are there serious objections?
Has anyone asked to be unsubscribed?
Some programmers appreciate this line to talk to each other informally or on tangential topics.
The essential information aspact is v.important for the organization; programmers are subscribed when cleared for on-air and may not unsubscribe while they continue to operate as a programmer.
Consensus not to place restrictions on it at this time. Todd will email the list for feedback.
Complaints - Frank reported that Eli Dvorchik has not responded to email or telehone call re 2complaint infraction notice. New complaint since then was verified by Scott and will be reviewed at next regular meeting. All camplaint come to the Prog. Com. for review after which decision will be forwarded to Frank if he is not present.
Ann spoke with Maria: 20 minutes late for her November 1 program. Discussed if start time is still feasible for her; if not, consider starting 30 mins later and go for 90 mins. Maria dependent on ride but says she should be able to be on time and will think about later start if necessary. The importance of completing the Operator’s log including check-off for close down. Make sure that not only alarm is set but doors are locked.
Some but business cards have been printed; available at the station.
Next meeting November 28th, 7pm, FMH
