WBCR-LP, Great Barrington’s all-volunteer community radio station will be holding on on-air fund drive beginning on Monday April 25 and running through Sunday May 1. Entitled Pump It Up, the drive will raise funds for operating expenses to keep the station running.
There will be special events all week at the WBCR-LP studios, including appearances by FODFest tour musicians, the Two-Man Gentlemen Band, and singer-songwriter Sky Smeed, along with cooking demonstrations, poetry readings, and much more. The public is encouraged to stop by the studios, located at the Granary Building on Rosseter Street in Great Barrington, or to make a pledge by calling 413.664.9797 or visiting the stations website at http://www.berkshireradio.org.
Founded in 2004, WBCR-LP, is an all-volunteer listener-supported radio station that broadcasts in the town of Great Barrington and can be heard worldwide on the internet at berkshireradio.org. Each week, WBCR-LP presents over 80 locally-produced or sponsored radio programs, with programmers ranging from elementary school students to retirees; with topics including local community issues, astrology, women’s issues, and water preservation; with announcers speaking in English, Spanish and French; and with live and recorded music ranging from classical to Italian folk to jazz to hip-hop. WBCR-lp programmer Leslie Gabriel and host of “And So It Flows” is producing an event at the Guthrie Center to “Honor the Housatonic”. The event will take place on April 23rd, 2011 and feature local performers. WBCR-lp will have a table at the event. You can read more about it on our PSA blog or at the event’s Facebook page.
