GREAT BARRINGTON — "WBCR Live, Vol. 1" a CD compendium of live tracks by local and national musicians recorded here, has won a Davey Award. The award is presented annually by the International Academy of Visual Arts for outstanding work by a small firm or agency, according to CNN.com. The "Davey" label alludes to the biblical David, who conquered the larger Goliath.

The award-winning CD features live performances from a host of local artists, including Robby Baier and Sky Smeed, intermixed with national performers, such as Eliza Gilkyson, Guy Davis, Laura Love and Christine Lavin. All the artists recorded at WBCR studios on Main Street during the past two years.

"We're extremely pleased," said Barbara Dean, WBCR programmer. "The CD is a combination of local and national acts, and that was very intentional."

There were more than 4,000 entries in a number of categories, including print, video, Web sites, online marketing, television and radio, according to www.Davey.com. The WBCR CD was one of 13 "golden" Daveys in the radio category, which is the top award given out, according to the Web site.
